PIP · PIRT Working Group

Coordinating regional action on invasive species

How we work

The Pacific Invasives Partnership provide a forum for invasive species practitioners to discuss and promote their work around the Pacific islands’ region, enabling sharing of best practice and maximise the benefits attained. The PIP members work independently and collaborate wherever possible to advance the purpose of the PIP. Current initiatives that are shared by the group are the promotion of international and domestic biosecurity, and the use of invasive species management actions at scale as Nature-based Solutions.

What we do

  • Support a regional hub for discussion, networking, and the exchange of knowledge, experiences, and best practices in invasive species management.
  • Encourage invasive species management action in the region for the protection of biodiversity, with flow-on positive benefits for all sectors.
  • Advocate for invasive species management actions at scale as Nature-based Solutions tools to protect biodiversity for climate resilience in the region.
  • Raise the profile of invasive species, especially with donors, NGOs, civil societies, and national governments.
  • Encourage collaboration between agencies working on invasive species in the region, including budgetary contributions to each other’s projects where possible.

Joining the Pacific Invasive Partnership
