Six thematic working groups

Between conferences PIRT delivers its programme of work through six thematic working groups, each chaired by a member organisation and open to participation from any partner.

• Marine — reefs, fisheries, marine protected areas, ocean policy.
• Terrestrial — forests, biodiversity, indigenous land stewardship.
• Climate — climate adaptation, resilience, finance for vulnerable islands.
• Indigenous knowledge — traditional ecological knowledge in conservation practice.
• Youth — next-generation Pacific leaders in environment.
• Funding & policy — mobilising resources, regional policy, partnerships.

Joining a working group

Member organisations can nominate staff to join any working group by emailing the PIRT Secretariat. Each group meets virtually every six weeks and in-person at the biennial conference.
