The dugong
Regarded as sacred across the Pacific, the dugong symbolises hope, maternal love, balance, and harmony, reflecting the conference's People, Nature, Culture theme.
The logo for the 11th Pacific Islands Conference on Nature Conservation (PCNC11) was co-designed by the host country, New Caledonia, and members of the Pacific Islands Roundtable for Nature Conservation (PIRT).
The logo embodies the region's rich cultural and natural heritage and the deep spiritual connections that bind people to the land and sea. It serves as a reminder that nature must be at the centre of our collective response to the triple planetary crisis – climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution.

Key design elements
The whale's tail and wave
Representing the ocean as a central element of Pacific identity, these elements evoke the richness of the marine environment, movement, and the connections that unite the islands.
The fish hook
Symbolises travel, cultural connections and shared bonds.
The yam shoots & woven basket
Meaningful across Pacific island cultures, the young yam shoot and woven basket symbolise life cycles, renewal, intergenerational connections, sacred relationships, and collective decision-making.
The sun
Emanating strength, energy, and regeneration, the sun reflects the dynamism of youth and the resilience of both people and ecosystems.
The green leaves
Reflecting hope, regeneration, resilience.
The spiral
The spiral symbolises the cycle of life, renewal, and transmission between generations.
The Enata symbol
Meaning "person" or "people" in the Marquesan language, this symbol represents humanity, relationships, and ancestry – a reminder that communities are integral to the stewardship of nature.
The turtle
Symbolising the connection between land and sea, the turtle represents longevity, the continuity of life, and a sense of welcome.
The cagou
An iconic bird found only in New Caledonia, the cagou is a proud symbol of the host country's unique natural heritage.
