Streams

Six streams, one Pacific

Each stream spans the full 5 days with keynotes, panels, workshops and field visits.

Marine

Coral reefs, coastal fisheries, marine protected areas, deep-sea governance, ocean acidification, blue carbon. Co-led by SPREP and FFA. Field visits: New Caledonia lagoon biodiversity sites.

Terrestrial

Forest restoration, invasive-species management, indigenous land stewardship, land-tenure reform, biodiversity monitoring across Pacific endemic ecosystems. Field visits: Mont Panié provincial park.

Climate

Climate adaptation planning, ecosystem-based resilience, loss-and-damage finance, NDC implementation, blue/green carbon for SIDS. Aligned with SPREP Climate Programme.

Indigenous knowledge

Customary tenure, traditional ecological knowledge in MPAs and forest management, FPIC protocols, indigenous-led monitoring. Co-curated with Kanak custodians of the host territory.

Youth

Next-generation Pacific leaders 18–30: scholarships to attend, dedicated youth track, mentoring with senior practitioners, pathway into PIELA Awards and working-group secondments.

Funding & policy

Donor pitching room, regional policy alignment (BBNJ, GBF, Paris Agreement), pooled-fund design, partnership matchmaking. Targeted at finance ministries, multilateral funders, and member CFOs.

Iconic Pacific architecture hosting 5 days of plenary, breakouts, field visits and cultural evenings.

Designed by Renzo Piano, the centre celebrates Kanak culture and offers a 1,200-seat auditorium, six breakout rooms, and open-air amphitheatres facing Magenta Bay.
