Nature at the heart of the Pacific.
A regional framework. Three pillars. One Pacific.
The Framework — adopted at the 10th Pacific Conference (Noumea, 2020) alongside the Vemööre Declaration — sets the agenda all 16 PIRT members align behind. Consultation for the 2026–2030 Framework is now underway.
PIRT is the key coordination mechanism for the implementation of the Pacific Islands Framework for Nature Conservation and Protected Areas and the Vemööre Declaration. The pillars guide collective work across protected areas, species and the people who steward them.
Members report annually against the Framework; published progress is reviewed by the PIRT Secretariat at SPREP and discussed at each Annual Meeting.
