1. Acceptance of these terms
By accessing pacificislandsroundtable.com you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. These terms apply to all visitors and account-holders.
2. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the website for any unlawful purpose, or in a way that may interfere with the rights of others.
- Scrape, mass-download or commercially redistribute material from the site without written permission.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, related systems, or other users' accounts.
- Submit content that is defamatory, harassing, infringes intellectual property, or breaches member organisations' codes of conduct.
- Misrepresent your identity or affiliation when registering for events or making submissions.
3. Accounts
You may create a member account to bookmark sessions, register for events and access member-only documents. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for activity under your account. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms.
4. Content and intellectual property
Content authored by PIRT and the Secretariat — including text, photography, graphics and design — is © PIRT / SPREP unless otherwise marked. We license most original PIRT publications under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0); please attribute "Pacific Islands Roundtable for Nature Conservation (PIRT)" and link back where possible.
Member organisations retain copyright in their own logos, images and content used on this site. Image credits are provided where the photographer or rights-holder is known (e.g. © Stuart Chape, © SPREP, © Lagi Reupena, © Ocean Ventures Fiji). Third-party content remains owned by its respective owners.
The PIRT logo and visual identity are trademarks of PIRT/SPREP. They may not be used without permission.
5. User submissions
When you submit content (an abstract, session proposal, comment, application or media for a story), you warrant that you own or have permission to submit it, and you grant PIRT a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use, reproduce and adapt that content for the purposes of the conference, the relevant call, and PIRT's communications work. Authorship is always credited.
6. Conference registration and payments
Conference registrations are subject to the published conference terms at the time you register, including category eligibility, refund policy and the host country's rules of access. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store full card details on our servers.
Cancellations. Cancellations made more than 30 days before the conference: 80% refund. 14–30 days: 50% refund. Less than 14 days: no refund except in documented exceptional circumstances. Free transfers between paid delegates are allowed up to 7 days before the event.
7. Third-party links and services
The site links to member organisations, donors and partners. We are not responsible for the content, privacy or terms of external sites. Third-party services we embed (e.g. Stripe payments, Mailchimp newsletters, video conferencing for hybrid events) operate under their own terms.
8. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
The site is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We make every effort to keep information accurate and up to date but make no guarantee. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, PIRT, SPREP and the member organisations are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the site.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, gross negligence, or anything else that cannot be excluded by law.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Samoa (where the Secretariat is hosted), without prejudice to mandatory consumer-protection rules of your country of residence. Disputes will be resolved through friendly negotiation, and failing that, the courts of Samoa.
