What we do
Support Pacific Island countries to achieve their protected and conserved area aspirations, including GBF Target 3 (30×30).
The PACoN — Pacific Area-based Conservation Network convenes member organisations, partners and Pacific specialists around the priorities of the Pacific Islands Framework for Nature Conservation. Membership is open to anyone with expertise in the area of the group — not only PIRT member organisation staff.
Five objectives
The PACoN — Pacific Area-based Conservation Network is mandated to deliver against five objectives over the current Framework period (2026–2030).
Build national systems of protected and conserved areas
Strengthen marine protected area effectiveness across the Pacific
Recognise Indigenous and Community Conserved Areas (ICCAs)
