A network of Pacific species specialists advocating for species conservation, supporting GBF Goal A and Target 4.
The SWG — Pacific Species Working Group convenes member organisations, partners and Pacific specialists around the priorities of the Pacific Islands Framework for Nature Conservation. Membership is open to anyone with expertise in the area of the group — not only PIRT member organisation staff.
Five objectives
The SWG — Pacific Species Working Group is mandated to deliver against five objectives over the current Framework period (2026–2030).
Maintain and update the Pacific species recovery strategy
Champion Pacific listings on the IUCN Red List
Support ex-situ and in-situ recovery programmes
Build capacity for species monitoring across the region
Mobilise emergency response for species at imminent risk
